synopsis
Inspired by real experiences of police officers and mental-health professionals, Cracked mixes police and medical drama. Each episode features the psychological side of policing as well as the emotional impact of front-line workers.
Detective Aidan Black (David Sutcliffe) and the Psych Crimes team are assigned a new unit psychiatrist, Dr. Clara Malone (Brooke Nevin). Together with Detective Poppy Wisnefski (Luisa D’Oliveira) and psychiatric nurse Leo Beckett (Dayo Ade), they are tasked with solving the most puzzling and problematic cases the city has to offer. Under the leadership of Inspector Diane Caligra (Karen LeBlanc), the Psych Crimes unit navigates the mental health issues suffered by people whose lives are impacted by crime, be they witness, victim or perpetrator. Aidan and Clara are both accustomed to operating outside the normal perimeters of their respective professions, and need to learn to trust each other in order to succeed in the face of overwhelming adversity.
CRACKED was a ratings hit in Canada for the CBC, holding its own weekly against top-rated U.S. network series.
CRACKED has been sold by international distributor BetaFilm to Groupe Canal+ & 13ème Rue Universal/NBCU (in France). Cracked has also been sold to Séries+ in Québec and U.S. cable and satellite network ReelzChannel.

CRACKED Detective Aidan Black (David Sutcliffe – Gilmore Girls, Private Practice) leads a unique team of police officers and psychiatrists who respond to bizarre and frightening crises and solve compelling cases involving emotionally disturbed criminals, victims and witnesses. The empathetic, street-wise cop – who also suffers from Post Traumatic Stress from shooting two people in the line of duty – is partnered with a whip-smart, no-nonsense psychiatrist who is anything but cracked.
